Pauline graduated as a costume maker from Mabel Fletcher, Liverpool in 1985 and has vast experience of cutting, making and supervising costume for Theatre, Opera, TV and Film. Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Leicester Haymarket and the BBC are just a few places Pauline has worked for and films include Little Women, Phantom of the Opera and Harry Potter.

She set up the York course to pass on her skills for the next generation of costume makers. Having now left her ‘other job’ teaching at Hull University, Pauline is now devoting all of her time to the NCC as well as her own career as a freelance supervisor, cutter and costume maker.

Rose Caldebank

Rose trained as a tailor and works as Men’s cutter at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester. She has a life times experience of all types of period tailoring and is a patient and dedicated tutor.

Sil Devilly MA

Sil trained at Mabel Fletcher and works for the Sheffield Crucible Theatre as well as freelancing for other theatre, opera and film companies. Sil has a wealth of experience and tips that she passes on to students.

Su Newell

After a number of years working in Theatre and Education Su retrained at Northern College of Costume. She has now worked in the wardrobe department at the Octagon Theatre, Bolton, for five years and regularly returns to the college to design for the Period Women’s Wear Project.
